I had a dream about a blog series that would feature some of my poetic expositions with this name - Fizzle or Sizzle.
Maybe this is my impetus to get started with my creative writing again - sizzle - or maybe this is my way to wring the last bit of muse out of me - fizzle.
Fact is this is Barbados' month of independence - 42 years on November 30, 2008 - and I thought I'd mix it up a bit. It's still marketing and PR perspectives but now the product is my literary prowess if you will.
Here goes nothing.
Disclaimer: I will try to use work that was not featured in my book, Igniting the Fire Within, so that I don't bore you if you have the book already and so that you can go and buy the book if you want more of my work! Please don't email me about protecting my IP from unscrupulous people. Trust me, it's not necessary. Think of it as living in a house next door to the drive-in. Open the blinds and take a free look inside the trailer that is my poetic brain.
Oh, don't forget to vote sizzle or fizzle in the comments/ posts at the end!
No. 1 -I Want to Make History
My love for you is merely a quest for fame
A chance to make the books of records
My love for you is an exhibition in extremism
Perfecting the art of loving for nothing
The art of giving without expectation
My love for you is merely an experiment
I am a scientist of love
And you are merely a lab rat
The test is the strength of a woman
When love unconditional is unreciprocated
My love for you is merely a dare
To see if my heart should break
Despite housing a love like diamond
I dare to see if this heart could survive
With an enviable immortality
My love for you is a journey
A quest for experiencing the fullness of living
The joy of having the richest of treasures
To learn to love with all one has got
Without concern for self
My love for you is merely that
Love for you with no vision
For comparing its age to eternity
For such brings to futility
An act of such great surrender
My love for you is a selfish ploy
A measuring stick of the capacity of a heart
In a person who loves universally
With pure disregard for penalty
With absolutely no fear of being denied
My love for you is for you alone
For I care not to spread my self thin
On plurality that may irritate the plan
The blueprint of my charted destiny
To find true love divine
