What is PR's real function?Who should PR report to?
These are just some of the questions that will be addressed at IABC Barbados' inaugural chapter event, a panel discussion featuring some of the island's senior practitioners:

So who do you think PR should report to?
I've seen recently titles such as 'Group Head, Human Resources and Corporate Communications' and 'Communications Project Manager', proving that many different schools of thought exist as to where PR should fall.
Are companies getting too imaginative with PR as a function or is PR growing to adapt to the needs of the organizations it serves?

I think local PR practitioners are indeed excited that we finally have an organization of our own.
All the while we have been working in isolation at our various companies in many instances, not realizing that there are others out there who share the same crazy work loads and work schedules.
Finally we can come together and share and grow professionally.
I just hope the same profession, time consuming as it is, doesn't keep too many people from attending!
